Quality and quantity… How often do we have to make a choice between the two? Do we want something exceptional served sparingly or a metric ton of something that can be generously described as ok? Fortunately July’s line up at Plymouth Comedy Club blows this problem away with a stunning double-headliner bill that’d be the envy of any comedy night in the land.
Troy Hawke, the perpetually dapper sophisticate, is one half of this double feature. Erudite, homeschooled and appearing to have fallen through a crack in time from the 1930s, Mr Hawke is perpetually slightly baffled at both the world around him and it’s inhabitants. Pure comedy genius in every observation as well as some of the finest off-the-cuff (Immaculately pressed of course) humour you could ever hope to see. You may have seen Troy Hawke’s viral videos as part of the ‘Greeters’ Guild’ welcoming folk to Tesco, T.K. Maxx and more British institutions.
Completely different and yet similarly brilliant, Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue are making their long overdue Plymouth Comedy Club debut. A two man tornado of music, puns, slapstick and pure chaos, Raymond & Mr Timpkins will take you on an all but literal rollercoaster. This legendary duo will leave any audience absolutely breathless. “An overload of velvet, sandals & multi-hued wool” that has taken the world by storm earning rave reviews at clubs and festivals across the globe.
Support is provided by the dry brilliance of Ben Briggs with resident MC Chris Brooker at the helm. How much for all this? Surely we’ve jacked the prices up? Nope, still just £15 for a full night of world class entertainment.
