ARGYLE’S Green Army are all invited to the Pilgrims’ annual end-of-season awards ceremony.
The club are revealing their Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards on the Home Park pitch immediately following the final game of the season against Cheltenham Town.
That means that an expected bumper home crowd who will be celebrating the Pilgrims’ Football League survival can see the awards being presented on Saturday, May 5.
As well as the two main awards, which have been voted for by Argyle fans, owner James Brent will be handing over a new trophy – the Chairman’s Award for Exceptional Contribution.
There will also be a special Award of Merit, as well as awards from the Football League and the Herald.
Players will remain on the pitch after the game, and the ceremony will take place within minutes of the game ending.
For everything to go off smoothly, it is essential that supporters do not come on to the playing area.
The whole event is again being organised in conjunction with the Green Taverners, who have enlisted the support of event sponsors Tower Cabs, Optimus Performance Marketing, and Coronet Engravers.
Also at the match, the Argyle youth team will receive the trophy and individual medals for winning the Football League Youth Alliance South-west Conference.
Carl Fletcher, now the club’s manager, was Argyle’s Player of the Season 12 months ago, while defender Curtis Nelson was Young Player of the Season.
Romain Larrieu, who is Fletch’s assistant, was given a Lifetime achievement award for his services to the club.
Also recognised was Peter Hall, a man who has held many roles at Home Park during his 80 years and remains vice-president.
Then manager Peter Reid, the players and non-playing staff were given a special plaque by fans.
